What’s new at the TSR…

BLOG - TSR Flower Wagon

Greetings dear friends!

It’s a quiet, early morning here on the ranch as the sun is just starting to peak and my coffee is HOT; a great time to catch you up on the happenings here, but where do I begin?!?!?!

It has been a whirlwind since we last visited!… and speaking of whirlwinds… I was looking out across the hayfield a few weeks ago and caught a whirlwind twisting the drying hay way above the tree tops. The pieces of hay intertwined with each other in a flurry before the twirling ended and the pieces fell… and not in their previously neatly raked rows! UGH, LOL! I just sat there reflecting on the months leading up to that moment. A year ago, I was excitedly working with my good friends and webmasters on color schemes, themes, pictures, and everything that goes into building a new website… I never dreamed that so many changes were in store for me!

I closed on the TSR (Twin Star Ranch new home place in Rolla) with only 30 days to move before closing on the Flemington farm. 30 DAYS! No time to remodel, which was not how I had planned the move in my head! With the help of a few family members and several nights of no sleep, we were out of the Flemington house with only seconds to spare! 43 truck/semi and trailer loads later and we were officially able to call Rolla home.

Have you ever had to remodel around furniture and boxes? It’s not for the OCD! 😁 For several weeks, kitchen food, pots and pans and all the bathroom stuff was on the front porch, because those were the last things packed. Thankfully the porch is now clean. For awhile my camera was MIA!!! My camera is an important tool and I have been lost without it… but one day while moving furniture and boxes from one room to another, I found it tucked away in a desk that was turned on it’s edge by the moving company! That was a HAPPY DAY! It’s going to feel like Christmas when I’m finally able to unpack, display and organize… I just hope it’s not December when I get to it.. but at this rate…. well… until then I will continue sanding and painting. LOL!

Here’s a peak of the remodel process!

An upstairs bedroom/workspace ceiling before…

and after!

The kitchen had this dark fake brick wall… I really wanted to rip it down, but didn’t have the time needed to re-sheetrock… so… I lightened the look a bit. I admit, it’s not my favorite but it sure brightened the kitchen and made my great-great grandma’s icebox standout a bit more.

The carpet throughout the house was old and yucky… with the upstairs being ANCIENT! It all had to go! What did I find days later after ripping, scraping, sanding, and finishing??? GORGEOUS hardwood flooring! True to the character of this 100 year old home. I am excited to keep working one room at a time uncovering such beautiful flooring!

Look at this ancient stuff!!

So much old dirt in this mess… just yucky!!!

Finally ready for the sander!!!

OMG… Why would anyone cover this up!!!

What’s that I hear??? Ahh… I hear my faithful paint roller calling my name! I am bound and determined to finish a room today but wanted to take a few minutes to visit with you about the happenings here at the TSR!

Oh.. I almost forgot…. we have a litter of puppies due… surely within the week! Dot is expecting her first litter. She had a date with Buckshot a couple of months ago and we are so excited to see what this cross brings! I will definitely keep you updated.

‘Til next time, stay cool and HAPPY TRAILS!!!.

  1. Hi Sandy! Nice update. Thanks for including pics of your remodeling. It’s almost like being there (without all the work, lol) watching you get settled into your new home. Glad to know your mom is doing better with you nearby. I’ll keep looking for your updates every week to see what’s new. And excited to hear you’ll soon be able to start creating again in between raising cattle, puppies and horse, lol. Talk to you soon.
