FAQs (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

We suggest that you give bottle water and the feed we send with the puppy to start out. Then gradually add in your tap water and the feed you find. The gradual change will help the puppy’s tummy adjust to a different feed and water. We have well water and some city waters have a strange taste and/or smell, or added chemicals compared to well water.

Also, don’t forget that we urge you to have a puppy vet check upon arrival. This is something you should be sure to call and schedule before your puppy arrives. Many times, veterinarians are booked a week or more in advance.

Yes, all of our puppies are sold with a registration application to either AKC or CKC. We do reserve the right to sell with limited registration.

We have both AKC and CKC parents. Information on each individual litter will explain what association that specific litter will be registered through.

We sell with both full and limited registrations. Specific registration information will be available per litter. Also, we only health guarantee our puppies as “pet” quality, so future reproductive issues will not be included.

Even though we sell our puppies with a “pet” health guarantee, we have produced several show dogs. If you want to take your puppy/dog into the show ring, we would love to hear how your show career is going.

No, Twin Star Ranch does not enter dogs into the show arena. We have, however, raised several show dogs and have dogs with champions in their lineage.

Yes, we have customers that have shown our puppies/dogs. We have also raised therapy and service dogs.

Puppies must be at least 8 weeks before they are eligible to be shipped. However, if you plan on picking up your puppy yourself, we can make arrangements for a sooner release, provided the puppy is ready. The puppy will need its series of vaccinations before we will release them early.

We feed Tuffies Gold Premium Adult Dog Food to our adult dogs. The first ingredient is meat based which we feel is important. Tuffies Gold is 26% Protein and 18% Fat.

When our mommas are getting close to whelping, we switch them to Nutri-Source Small & Medium Breed Puppy food. It is also meat based and has 32% Protein and 21% Fat. We leave mommas on this feed until puppies are weaned. All puppies are started on this feed and samples are sent with them to their new homes.

All our dogs and puppies stay on full feed. Just make sure the pan is always full. Dogs/puppies will only eat when they are hungry and only eat the quantity they need.

We only use leashes. However, we suggest you use what you are comfortable with using. We are happy to measure the puppy when it leaves so you have the correct size collar or harness when the puppy arrives.

We believe that the puppy should start to learn what is allowed in your home the minute arrives. Corgis are very soft hearted and don’t take yelling or harsh correction very well. We suggest you use a soft voice/hand and consistency when training your puppy.

Puppies are like children and will become bored with a toy after a short while. We suggest different types of toys as long as they are safe with no tags or long parts to get tangled in and hurt/choke. Should your puppy begin to chew bits and pieces off the toy, toss it in the trash and buy a new one. Teething toys are particularly important at a young age. Squeaky toys are fun as well. A good idea is to only give a few toys each day, switching out with different toys the following day, etc. That helps prevent boredom.

We do not sell kennels or crates. However, if shipping via air, crate cost will be included in the shipping cost and will be sent home with your puppy.

Our online store will periodically offer pet products. Feel free to check it out to see what is available at that time. Feel free to check out  slidingstoptradingpost.com (or the home page to this ranch page) to see what is in stock.

We give 2 rounds of a 5-way (includes Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus and Corona Virus) and 1 round of Bordetella (Kennel Cough) before puppies are 8 weeks.

We also deworm with Pyrantel at 2, 4 & 8 weeks and with Fenbendazole for 3 days at 6 weeks.

We will provide a record of the above for you to take to your veterinarian for follow-up.

We recommend that you follow your veterinarian’s protocol once you get your puppy. We do recommend that another 5-way booster vaccination be given at 12 weeks and a booster Bordetella at 10 weeks. Puppies need to be dewormed every 2 weeks until at least 12 weeks of age and then regularly after that time. Heartworm prevention and a rabies vaccination after 12 weeks is also recommended.

Yes, we do provide a health check by a licensed veterinarian.

We do offer a pet guarantee. A copy of that is provided on our website. Please read through the guarantee to understand our refund/exchange policy.

We would be willing to sell you more than one puppy, depending on the circumstance. We will look at each situation individually, keeping the puppies’ best interest in mind. Discounts are given on a case-by-case basis.

We typically have a litter Spring and Fall. We do have a waiting list form we encourage you to complete so we can contact you when we have a litter on the ground and know how many males/females and colors were in the litter.

We have a waiting list form that we encourage you to complete. We will then contact you either by email or phone to notify you when we have something matching your request.

We do take payments. The puppy must be paid in full before delivery/pick up.

We take cash, check (if it has time to clear the bank before shipment), PayPal and Venmo. If paying by PayPal or Venmo, we ask that you pay using Friends and Family or there will be a 3.5% credit card fee.

Yes, we ship. We use Airbound Pets to assist with shipping via air. We can typically fly puppies into most major airports. Due to the Covid, please contact us so we can confirm a flight to your location.

We have also used Puppy Travelers to ship via ground. Puppy Travelers only go to certain states within the US. Please contact us to confirm. We do prefer air over ground. The puppies seem to do better as it seems to be less stressful.

We purchased our first female Pembroke Welsh Corgi in 2006. “Dally” is the cornerstone to our Corgi family. “Latti” is her daughter, “Star” is her grand-daughter and “Misfire” is the great-grand-daughter. We have lots of family history that many breeders don’t offer.

Our puppies are born and raised in our dining room. They are handled daily and are around cats, other dogs, livestock and children. The regular interaction makes them wonderful, loyal pets. We take them outside to play and potty on pretty days. We do not individually potty train each puppy as it is too difficult when there is more than one to watch. We do start crate training, which helps when shipping and when they arrive to your home.
